JMC undertakes clearing, desilting of deep drains and nallahs

Jammu, June 11: The transport wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation is making sustained efforts for clearing and desilting of deep drains / nallahas passing through various localities of the City.
In continuation to that the nallahas / deep drains in Shakti Nagar, Jewel Rotary, Railway Road near Transit Camp, Durga Nagar, Tallab Tillo, Nanak Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Muthi, Roop Nagar, Paloura, Channi Himat, Gangyal, Peer Kho, Krishna Nagar, Ambphalla, Digiana, Shastri Nagar, Rampura, Dashmesh Nagar areas have been reasonably cleared / desilted and approx 6000 metric tonnes of silt, garbage and boulders were removed and transported to land filling / dumping site.
The desilting work of remaining nallahas / deep drains is in full swing and the transport wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation has geared up its men and machinery to ensure that the nallahas / deep drains are cleared / desilted before setting up of monsoon season.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has also appealed to the general public not to throw waste, debris and building material etc. in the nallahas / deep drains as it makes the task of Jammu Municipal Corporation more cumbersome in clearing these nallahas / deep drains, besides, ensuing monsoon can also cause damage to the houses / properties in the event of choking and blockage of these nallahas / deep drains.
Further, the enforcement Staff led by the Chief Enforcement Officer alongwith police force carried out the drive to clear the footpaths / pavements and part of road sides etc. During the drive the team removed gateway erected, water pump motor installed and also demolished the pacca platform extended by Easy Day showroom at Trikuta Nagar, Extension by encoraching upon part of road side and part of lane there and seized material like Barrels, Containers etc., from the site.
The team also seized fruits / baskets which were kept by fruit sellers by encoraching upon footpaths at Canal Road, Jammu.A total fine of Rs. 5880 was charged from the erring milk vendors and owners of the stray animals on spot.
