Man injured in unrest 2010, succumbs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 11: The death toll in last year's summer unrest had an addition by one as a blacksmith from Pampore in south Kashmir's Pulwama district lost battle to grave injuries he had sustained in alleged firing by paramilitary Rapid Action Force in August last year. Officials said that 35-year-old Abdul Rashid Reshi son of Ghulam Mohammad Reshi succumbed to his injuries around 6 am at home in Dar Mohalla, Sampora. According to the locals, Reshi had sustained bullet injury in his head on August 05 last year after RAF allegedly fired to disperse peaceful protesters in the area. Survived by three kids and wife, Reshi was later admitted in SKIMS Soura here for several months before discharged in a state of comma on October 15 last. With Reshi killing, the death toll due to police and paramilitary CRPF action mounted to at least 119, according to unofficial figures. During the last assembly session, the government put the death at 104 and admitted out of the dead, 102 people who died during the nine months of turmoil in the Valley beginning June 2010 were innocent and had nothing to do with the violence or its instigation thereof. Besides, 104 killings, government had put the number of injured persons at 962 with 18 rendered disabled forever. As per the officials, highest number of 22 people were killed in Baramulla town followed by Srinagar (18), Sopore (14), Anantnag (13), Budgam (10) and rest in other districts.
