Court awards 10 yrs RI in NDPS Act | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 11: Principal sessions judge, Kathua, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh to an accused in NDPS Act. The accused Satpal, son of Mohan Lal of Bhatra Kalan in Punjab was arrested along with 31 kg of poppy straw at toll post, Lakhanpur. A case under 8/15 of NDPS Act was registered and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the court. After hearing both the sides, the judge awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to the accused and imposed a fine Rs 1 lakh on him. The court also ordered that he would further undergo imprisonment of two years in case of default of payment.
