Dy.CMdistributes Rs.3 lacs as ex-gratia among affected families

DODA, JUNE 11 - Reiterating the commitment of the coalition government for providing all sort of assistance and relief for the rehabilitation to the cloud burst affected people of Baggar area of District Doda, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today visited Baggar and took on spot assessment of the loss of property and life in the natural calamity and distributed Rs. 1 lac each to the next of those three people who got killed in the mudslide.
MLA Inderwal Mr. G.M Saroori, MLA Ramban Mr. Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Doda Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khan and Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mr. Shabir Ahmed Batt besides other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
The Minister expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of 3 lives and property in the natural calamity, He and said that government will provide all sort of assistance and relief for the rehabilitation to the affected people of the Baggar. He directed DDC Doda and DDC Ramban to make a detailed assessment of the loss of property, lives, crops and fruits plants in the region so that the affected people could be provided relief and assistance to enable them to be self sufficient as earlier as possible.
While distributing the ex-gratia relief of Rs 3 lacs, 1 lac per family those families who lost their bread earners in the calamity, Deputy CM said that the loss of life can not be repaired with ex-gratia relief as the vacuum created in those families can not be full filled, He said that ex-gratia will provide them assistance to gear up for the challenges ahead. The Minister prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families. On behalf of the coalition government the Deputy Chief Minister assured the people of Baggar that compensation will be provided to those whose property, land, crops, fruit plants have been damaged in the cloud burst.
The Deputy Chief Minister also appreciated the people of Baggar for showing courage during the calamity and assisting the stranded passengers on the Batote- Doda- Kishtwar NH 1B. He also lauded the efforts made by the District Administration, BEACON, Police, Army, NGO’s and other Para-Military Forces for quickly responding to the calamity and starting immediate relief and rescue operations besides restoring the Highway.
