Govt constitutes teams to curb overloading on Sgr-Leh NH

SRINAGAR, JUNE 11: The Government has constituted teams comprising representatives of Traffic Police, Police, CMP, Beacon, MVD and local representatives to curb the menace of overloading of Load Carriers on Srinagar-Leh National Highway ensuring no load carrier are move to Leh without proper weighing from Sonamarg. The teams would camp at diversion point of existing weighbridge and near new transport yard at Sonamarg upto 6 pm.
This decision was taken at a high level meeting of officers of Traffic, Police, Beacon and Transport last evening under the Chairmanship of Minister for Transport and CA&PD Qamar Ali Akhoon.
The meeting was decided that all the load carriers carrying goods, FCI and Army supply have to pass through the weigh bridge for proper weighing of load.
Keeping in view the maintenance of the road at Zojila pass, it was decided that no traffic would be allowed to ply on the road from 12 noon to 3 pm. Moreover, no heavy vehicle will be allowed to move towards Kargil after 6 p. m.
Addressing the meeting Akhoon asked the officers to make coordinated and concerted efforts to ensure smooth flow of traffic at Zojila pass. He asked the RTO Kashmir and senior officers of concerned departments to start this mechanism right from June 13th positively, adding that this task should be monitored frequently by the senior officers. He also asked to implement the time schedule fixed by the government in letter and spirit to avoid any untoward incident on the road.
Among others, who attended the meeting include Commissioner Secretary CA&PD, Pardeep Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Transport, G.R. Ghani, SP Traffic Kashmir, G.M. Wadoo, Jt. Transport Commissioner Sheikh Fayaz, Commandant 32 BRTN Col. Rajesh, OC 122 RCC, Parveen Kumar, RTO Kashmir, Anees, DSP Ganderbal, Harmeet Singh, Manager FCI, Asgar Ali and Joint Director, CA&PD, Mohammad Ashraf and Sarpanch of Sonamarg.
