Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 11: Remaining firm on their stand of commencing the Amarnath Yatra from June 15, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad today said the Jammu and Kashmir government was "deliberately" creating hurdles to postpone the pilgrimage.
"The state government is deliberately delaying the work of clearing the roads so that they can postpone the Yatra to June 29," VHP national spokesperson Surinder Kumar Jain said.
Jain warned of "a repeat of Ayodhya" if chief minister Omar Abdullah "remained adamant on his stand of not commencing the Yatra before June 29."
He said the heads of ten ''akharas'' across the country had already confirmed their presence to flag-off the Yatra on June 14 from Jammu''s Parade Grounds.
"Heads of ten akhara''s of Shavite ideology will be travelling to the city along with their followers and we want to see how the government stops them from entering into the state," Jain said.
"Jagatguru Shankaracharya Shri Basudevnandji Maharaj, Jagatguru Shankaracharya Shri Raj Rajeshwaranandji, Jagatguru Shankaracharya Shri Narendernand Giriji and Mahamandaleshwar Devendranand Giriji will be among others to come for the commencement of the Yatra," he said, adding thousands of devotees across the country will also throng the city.
Jain said the government would have to face "serious repercussions" if it tries to stop the Yatra from the proposed date of June 14.
