| Bhagani Kesari: Binda-Gani share dangal title | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 12: Wrestler Binda of Garh Shanker Akhara in Punjab and Abdul Gani of Doda shared the 32nd Annual Bhagani Kesari dangal title after their 39 minutes long main bout ended in a draw at Bhagani in block Bhalwal of district Jammu.
Both these wrestlers shared Rs 51,000 between them. The cash prize was given away jointly by chief guest, president, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch Bhagani, Mohd. Anwar Khan, Bittu Raina and Akbar. This Dangal was organized by Dangal Committee Bhagani in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Among others present were Papu Lakri, SHO Gharota, Sameer Jallani, district officer Horticulture, Virender Sharma were guests of honour as also Sarpanch Subash, Bavishan, Mumtaj Shamin and Rashpal Singh (Bittu) were also present on the occasion.
In all, 45 bouts were played in this day-long dangal. Second main bout that lasted for 42 minutes between Satnam (Gori) of Machivara Akhara (Ludhiana) and Rehmat Ali of Doda at present Mallerkotla (Punjab) ended in a draw thus both shared Rs 31,000 cash prize between them.
Third bout went to Kamaljit of Jallander, who beat Sagar of Sat Paul Akhara Delhi, while fourth bout was won by Jakker of Jammu beating Onkar Singh of BSF (Kathua).
Member J&K State Sports Council and Treasure Indian style Wrestling Association of India was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away the prizes among the winners and losers of the Dangal leading Businessman, Social worker of Katra
Meanwhile, a veteran wrestler Billa (a national silver medalist) from Nargada was facilitated with golden chain worth Rs. 21,000 by the Dangal Committee Bhagani for his life-time achievement in the field of wrestling.
Members of organizing committee and those technical officer who helped in smooth conduct of dangal were Mohd. Anwar Khan (Sarpanch), Bittu Raina, Ali Akbar, Sham Singh, Sham Lal, Hazi Mohd. Ashraf, Galli Raina, Hazi Mahd. Shaffi, Shiv Ram, Des Raj, Krishan Gopal, Manzoor Hussian, Ch. Mohd. Sadiq, Som Raj, Mohd. Fareed, Allah Mai (Ranga), Mulk Raj, Virender Sharma and Papu Lakri.
