Tree talk programme conducted | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 12: A large number of morning walkers and tree lovers from across the society gathered at Durbargarh Park Mubarak Mandi Jammu for conducting a tree talk programme. The participants discussed various issues of plants and environmental degradation and showed concern about the dying heritage of Jammu. They noted that the past glory of Jammu had trees like Moulserry and Kandhar, once imported by Maharajas from nearby countries, for making it a city beautiful. Director Floriculture Jammu K. K. Sharma briefed about the initiative mooted by noted IFS officer O P Sharma Vidyarthi for bringing awareness to common masses about the plants and trees and lauded his efforts for making the programme a success amongst not only the people of Jammu but now in Kashmir province too. On this occasion, Van Sampda members planted a number of herbs in the park and converted a small portion into a herbal strip, for creating the awareness amongst the people visiting the park. Abrol, a forest officer, Rajender Thappa, Ravi Sharma,advocate Sanjeev Khajuria O P Bakshi of JSB Dev Society and other prominent citizens were present who were enthralled by the noted tree lover Manjeet Singh by his sweet songs.
