Drug de-addiction centre being inaugurated

SRINAGAR, Jun 12: A drug-de addiction-cum-counselling centre would be inaugurated in north Kashmir’s Sopore area on Monday.
Center would be inaugurated at Bomai Sopore by ADG Home Guards and Civil Defence, Ram Lubiya. Center which would be run under the supervision of Dr Inyat Mir, Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence Baramulla will have one medical officer and a profession counselor.
Three level programmes will be run in the center which includes counseling and homeopathic treatment, referral to Drug De-Addiction Center Police Control Room Srinagar for detoxification and awareness programmes will be initiated in education institutions and at community level.
Besides SP and DSP Sopore, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sopore, Tehsildar Sopore, local sarpanch, civil defence staff and volunteers are expected to attend the programme. Drug abuse, which is threatening the lives of thousands of young people across Kashmir, is patronized by a flourishing nexus of illicit drug dealers, small scale narcotics producers and market networks.
