Bhalla lays foundation stone of culvert, rotary near Nidesh Apartments

JAMMU, Jun 12: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla on Sunday laid foundation stone of 7.30 meter span box type culvert over Tanger nallah near Nidesh Apartments in Trikuta Nagar, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 102.35 lakh.
Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings Department, Nasir Ahmed Goni besides other senior engineers of PHE, PDD and R&B present on the occasion. After laying the foundation stone of culvert, the Minister addressed a large gathering and said with the construction of culvert including rotary, the long pending demand of 2 lakh populace of Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Greater Kailash, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat and National Highway Bye-Pass would be benefited.
He said during rainy season, the inhabitants of these areas have faced lot of hardships during crossing the dilapidated condition Tanger nallah. Bhalla asked the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He appealed the people to cooperate with the engineers in completing the project within prescribed time.
Interacting with the people, the Minister informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 9 crore for construction of community halls in slum dwellers colonies of Gandhi Nagar constituency. For facilitating the people of Bahu Fort, he said Government has earmarked Rs. 1.57 crore for construction of multi purpose community halls at Qasim Nagar, Bazigar Basti, Kalika Colony near Rabi Dass Ji Sabha and Goswami Basti. He said with the completion of halls, the weaker sections of the locality could arrange social as well as religious functions there on minimal fee.
Bhalla said that 200 tenements have already been allotted to slum dwellers at Rajiv Nagar while Rs 19 crore townships has been developed in Sunjwan for accommodating more such beneficiaries. He said Central Government has launched number of schemes for uplifting the socio-economic condition of the rural as well as urban poor.
Earlier at Nanak Nagar Sector-7 Lane No. 10 and Bahu Fort, Kacha Talab W. No. 47, the upgradation works of lanes and drains of the locality was started in the presence of the Minister for which Government has earmarked Rs. 21 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the project well before the Start of rainy season
