JAMMU, Jun 12: Throwing light on life and teachings of Kabir, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that teachings of the revered Saint are a beacon light for mankind. He said Kabir ji was among the pioneers of Bhakti movement in the sub-continent and gave to the world the message of peace, love, and devotion to the supreme lord, without any discrimination of birth, place or caste.
He said great saints and seers come to the world to show mankind the moral way of living based on mutual co-existence and love for the fellow beings. Tara Chand said this was while flagging off an impressive Shobha Yatra of Sant Kabir, here today. The Yatra was organized as part of celebrations of 613th birth anniversary of Sadh Guru Kabir Dass ji Maharaj. Shobha Yatra was organized by J&K Megh Sudhar Sabha.
Enlisting special measures launched for welfare of the community, Tara Chand said that the government headed by Omar Abdullah has undertaken exemplary steps for the welfare and upliftment of the community. He described Inter-District Recruitment Bill as a landmark step, which would members of the community reservations in all the regions of the state.
Deputations mostly from Pahari belt of the state put forward various demands pertaining to Power, Drinking water, roads, schools and unemployment, for active consideration of the government. Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to all the deputations and passed on the spot instructions to the concerned authorities for active consideration of genuine demands of the people.
