No confrontation with State Govt on infiltration issue: Army | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 12 (KNS): The General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps Lt General Syed Atta Hasnain, Sunday said that there was no confrontation between the Army and State Government on infiltration issue in Kashmir. Talking to KNS on the sidelines of Army Goodwill School’s annual function in Pahalgam, General Hasnain said, “There is no confrontation over the issue of infiltration between the Army and Chief Minister (Omar Abdullah). This is our personal input whether militants have sneaked in Valley or not. The state government have there own inputs. But there is no question of disagreement.” The GOC, however, said that 700 militants trained in 42 camps on the other side of LoC were waiting to infiltrate. “But our alert troops will foil their any attempt to sneak in,” he added. The GOC said that overall situation in the Valley was under control and Army and Police were ready to handle any type of situation. “Militants have changed there strategy in the Valley but we are ready to deal with any situation.” On the recent incident in which some army troopers had assaulted tourists from Rajasthan in Pahalgam, General Hasnain said, “No indiscipline will be tolerated in Army and those soldiers who were involved in the incident have been punished according to law. Army never believes in harassing civilians.”
