Azad discusses with SMC Mayor and Corporators plans for revival of old glory of Srinagar Shahar-i-Khaas

Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Bhat along with Corporators called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here today and expressed their gratitude for his bold and effective decisions with regard to development of Srinagar Shahar-i-Khaas.
They informed Chief Minister that Srinagar remained most neglected place in development matters while as being the capital city it is required to be given such a facelift so that it is globally recognized as one of the beautiful cities of the world.
Chief Minister informed them that under JNNURM various projects have been cleared by the high level steering committee which are being forwarded to the central government for 90 percent funding while as 10 percent will be provided by the state government. He said once work on these projects is started the vision of building greater Srinagar will be automatically realized. He said that in addition to beautification of surroundings of all parts of Shahar-i-Khaas, there is a definite plan under JNNURM scheme to beautify all water bodies including Jehlum and also beautify the historic shrines and heritage places.
Mr. Azad said that under JNNURM augmentation of water resources, better treatment of water bodies, improvement of roads and bridges, creating necessary infrastructure including modernizing sewerage facilities, better solid waste management and development of slum areas in the city will be taken due care.
Chief Minister advised the Corporators to monitor personally all development works and bring into his notice any violation which takes place anywhere which has direct affect on the beauty of Srinagar city. He hoped that all Corporators will work with zeal and enthusiasm to maintain existing beauty of Srinagar and also make efforts for reviving its old glory.
Besides SMC Mayor, the Corporators present on the occasion were Peer Pervez Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Qayoom, Moulvi Tariq, Mr. Abdul Gani Khan, Mr. Showkat Hafiz, Mr. Wasim War, Mr. Hilal Sofi, Mr. Mohammad Idris, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Kachroo, Mr. Abdul Rashid Dar, Mr. Abdul Majid Bhat, Mr. Javid Janbaaz, Mr. Abdul Hadi Shah, Mr. Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Kuthoo, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Ilahi and Mr. Mohammad Altaf Dar.
