JK’s accession with India final: ML Fotedar | ‘Mufti’s rule golden era in history of state’ | | EARLY TIMES REPPORT Srinagar, June 13 (KNS): Asserting that J&K’s accession with India was full and final, Senior Congress leader, Makhan Lal Fotedar, Monday said no one can challenge it. “There is no question of J&K’s accession with India being conditional. It is final and no one can challenge it,” Fotedar told reporters here. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, had told the Legislative Assembly in October 2010 that J&K’s accession to India was conditional, and that there was no merger with the Union of India. Asked to comment on Omar’s assertions regarding the accession, Fotedar said, “He (Omar) wasn’t even born when the accession was signed.” On Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram’s last year’s statement that Kashmir was a ‘unique problem’ and needed ‘unique solution’, the veteran Congress leader said, “He (Chidambaram) speaks good English, but has no knowledge about Kashmir.” About factionalism in state Congress, he said, “There might be some contradictions within State Congress but there is no dispute as such.” Fotedar, who has served both in state and union cabinet, described former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir as ‘golden era in the history of the state.’ “Congress Working Committee had taken a decision at that time (in 2005) to continue with Mufti as CM. But unfortunately it didn’t happen. Had Mufti continued as CM, there would have been no Kashmir issue this time,” he revealed. Asked whether he would meet separatist leaders, Fotedar said, “I’ll not go to them (separatists) but if they want to meet me my doors are open.”
