| two-year extension to VC SMVDU | | |
JAMMU, NOV 23 Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha, in his capacity as Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, (SMVDU) has extended the term of office of Vice Chancellor Professor Narendra Kumar Bansal for a further period of two years from the date on which his initial term of three years expires. According to a spokesman, General Sinha has granted extension to Professor Bansal in view of the commendable services rendered by him in steering the university to a path of academic excellence and for expediting infrastructure development in the fast upcoming campus. A renowned energy scientist, Professor Bansal took up the assignment in this prestigious institution in Northern India on November 15, 2004. Holding a doctorate degree from IIT Delhi, Prof Bansal specializes in renewable energy, energy conservation, energy planning and economics. Having academic experience of 36 years in various capacities and credited with numerous academic papers, he had a long stint as Professor at the prestigious Centre for Energy Studies in IIT Delhi. Under his stewardship, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University achieved the unique distinction of having 100 per cent placements for its first batch of business management scholars on the strength of their merit and standing of the university. |
