| CBI books Garrison Engineer, ors for cheating | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June-13 (JNF):- CBI/ACB Jammu booked Lt. Col Shantnu Rishi Garrison Engineer, Swami Nath Subedar Assistant Garrison MES Rajouri and Satvir Gupta contractor of Rehari Colony Jammu for committing the offences of cheating by using substandard TMT bars used for construction of three storied shed for food-grains.
In the FIR it has been mentioned that Satvir Gupta contractor was awarded a contract agreement by Chief Engineer MES as per which TMT bars of certain specification were required to be provided. According to the FIR Lt. Col Shantnu Rishi Garrison Engineer, Swami Nath Subedar Assistant Garrison MES Rajouri in execution of the contract agreement procured sub-standard TMT bars from M/S Jehlum Industries Samba who was not authorized to supply the same. The firm was not having the required technology of production and hence by violating terms and conditions of the contract agreement they used substandard material and cause of a huge amount to the Govt exchequer.
According to the FIR that facts prima-facie disclosed that Lt. Col Shantnu Rishi Garrison Engineer, Swami Nath Subedar Assistant Garrison MES Rajouri in connivance with Satvir Gupta contractor and other unknown persons entered into a criminal conspiracy with each other and misused their official position as Public servant for cheating and committed offences u/s 120-B r/w 420/420-A RPC and 5(2) r/w section 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act 2006 and started investigation.
