Congress leader felicitated newly elected Sarpanches and Panches | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 13: Senior congress leader and member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma and member legislative council Ravinder Sharma General Secretary , spokesperson JKPCC felicitated the newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of blocks Nowshera. Addressing the gathering Madan Lal Sharma favoured empowerment of Panchayat Raj Institutions on the pattern of Panchayat Raj Institutions in other parts of the country as per the 73rd and 74th amendment. He said that dream of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi to fully empowerment of Panchayats and local bodies has to be fulfilled in order to ensure that benefit of democracy percolate down to the grass root level by ensuring the effectiver participation of people in planning and developmental activities as per need of people. He said that the reservation for SC/ ST and women in Panchayats is also the result of the policies of the congress party and said that we should be proud that country has women President, UPA chairperson, Lok Sabha speaker and opposition leader in the Lok Sabha and asked the women to come forward and get their share in every sphere of life. He referred the various demands raised by the speakers and asked the people to bring it to the notice of concerned agencies and state government through Ravinder Sharma MLC, so that their issues are resolved. He assured that he will take up their demands at the state and central level. He referred to power crises in twin tehsils of Nowshera –Sunderbani due to burning out of Kalakote grid station and asked the government to take all possible necessary measures to restore the supply. He told the gathering that chief engineer PDD and other officials are monitoring the work themselves and every effort is being made to make alternate arrangement to restore power supply which has affected water supply also in twin tehsils. He asked PHE to arrange more water tankers for twin tehsils to meet the situation.
