Huge cache of arms recovered from Anatnag | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Anantnag , June 13: Fifteen days ahead of Holy Amarnath Yatra, commencing from June 29 Anantnag Police and 36 RR on Monday seized a huge cache of arms and explosives, including 5 kg of RDX, 1 SLR, 1 Pistol, One Grende and 151 rounds of AK 47, in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, foiling the designs of militants to carry out terror attacks. Acting on specific information, police, 36 RR and 164 battalion of CRPF cordoned the forest area of Kandiwara of Kokernag 25 kms here from Anantnag, in the intervening night and busted a under ground hide out of militants from which arms and ammunition was recovered, a police spokesman told this reporter He said the arms and explosives were to be smuggled to other areas for carrying out subversive activities. However, no arrests have been made during the raid. The spokesman said the recovery of arms, ammunition and explosive averted a major disaster. DSP Kokernag, Shabir Ahmad in a press briefing told reporters that the movement of militants, now-a-days in the area has got acceleration. He said that the operation was also assisted by the 36 RR and 164 Battalion of CRPF.
