| Karra stresses for mobilizing resources to achieve self- reliant economy | | |

Underscoring the need for creating an awareness among the traders and consumers regarding paying of taxes and VAT, the Minister for Finance and Planning Mr. Tariq Hamid Karra has said that sales tax department should conduct seminars and symposia at districts level to acquaint the people about their right and directs with regard to sales tax aspects.
The Minister was addressing officers of sales tax department while reviewing pre- budget meeting here today.
Mr. Karra asked the concerned authorities to gear up all its units across the state for resource mobilization without pinching the poor class. He said, “We have to take it as a mission which is imperative to become self- reliant in all sectors.” He asked the officers to further improve the functioning of the department and work with further dedication so that our state also is compared with our neighbouring states.
Giving resume of the department, Commissioner Sales Tax Kh. Bashir Ahmad said that against the target of Rs. 1238.63 crore, the department has realized Rs. 776.08 crore as sales tax by ending October this year. He said that department has made 42596 registrations also during the same period.
The meeting was attended among others, Additional Commissioners Commercial Taxes (Administration) Kashmir and Jammu Dr. Irshad Ahmad Jan, Mr.S. K.Koul and Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Tax Planning, Jammu Mr. R.K.Koul.
