6/14/2011 9:12:00 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 14: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has welcomed the amicable settlement of the stand off between Baba Amarnath Niyas and other Hindu organisations over starting the annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave.
Addressing a meeting of the hoteliers, association president Inderjeet Khajuria observed that sagacity shown by both sides has avoided the undue confrontation which could have disturbed the smooth conduct of the Yatra on the one hand and provided an opportunity to the anti national elements to disturb peace prevailing in the Valley.
The association has further asked the SASB to provide maximum facilities at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas Jammu, by providing spacious shed for protection against burning sunshine and rain. It has demanded that more facilities should be provided to the people who visit the shrine board from across the country. Those who attended the meeting included Ajay Gupta Sen. vice president, B.S Manhas, vice president, Pawan Gupta general secretary, Baldev, treasurer and Vikamjeet Singh secretary. .
Expressing happiness over the tourist influx in Kashmir this year, the hoteliers’ body has laid stress on avoiding undue confrontation and creating disturbance which helps anti-national elements to exploit the situation.
AJHLA has demanded that SASB should take further steps to make the yatra a year long affair, as has been the case with Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra in Jammu. “Yatra can at least be made a four to six month long affair when the path enroute the cave shrine is free from snowfall and weather allows the same”, Khajuria said.
He said that shrine board has already taken some measures, like shifting the helipad from near the cave shrine, so that it does not affected the area around the cave. Association has said that longer the duration of the yatra, more will be the pilgrims influx which will give boost to the economy.
Further it has demanded that to avoid any further controversy in future, board should take into confidence all the organizations and stake holders in deciding the duration of pilgrimage.
