Western command conducted ‘children summer adventure camp 201’1 in Manali | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 14: Western Command’s Children Adventure Camp is conducted every year for the wards of all ranks of service persons and civilian staff serving in Western Command with the aim of inculcating and developing a flair for adventure, exploration, inquisitiveness and outdoor life amongst them. Children Adventure Camp for the year 2011-12 was conducted in Gen Area Manali (HP) under the arrangements of Rising Star Corps from 31 May to 14 Jun 2011. This camp was organized for age groups 9-13 years and 14-17 years. 300 children participated in the fun filled two weeks. The focus of the camp was to invoke inquisitive spirit amongst all the children. Hence the activities to include trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, zorbing, paragliding and ropeway ride and zip line were conducted. Competitions like dancing, singing, bivouac pitching, self cooking etc enabled the children in community living and building the spirit of giving and sharing as well as understanding the piers. Sight seeing to Manali and educational trips to Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) enthused the children to a new world with different horizons. The camp has definitely made children better and responsible citizens contributing immensely towards the society.
