Early Times Report
CHOR PANJIAN, June 14: Beating scorching heat and tough terrain and an on-foot journey spanning over 30 kms a team of Youth Congress led by R S Pathania, senior vice president, J &K Pradesh Youth Congress, visited Nagain area of Chor Panjian panchayat.
Pertinent to mention that in line with Gandhiji’s concept ‘India resides in villages’ Youth Congress had adopted Chor Panjian Panchayat for developmental purposes on 2nd October, 2011 (Gandhi Jayanti).
While taking an overall developmental overview of the Panchayat, Pathania said that a worst reign of underdevelopment, mis governance and administrative isolation was all galore in Chor Panjian, Motu, Garh, Samna Banj, Khubban, Pandhar, Nagain, Babay, Khrara - a separate belt of about ten villages.
The area has a population of about 20,000 souls bound by tehsils Bani and Billawar of Kathua district having worst topography, tough terrain and militancy-infested conditions.
There was no road connectivity in the area and most of the habitations were without provision of electricity and drinking water facility.
But it had been with the efforts of Youth Congress that work on two multi-crore PMGSY projects, Sanote to G S Banj and Haman to Chor Panjian had been started and also work on Gurha to Nagain fair weather road has been completed thereby providing a viable road link to these ‘secluded’ areas.
Local sarpanch, Sharan Singh further complimented the Youth Congress for spurring up MGNREGA and Haryali works in the area which has fulfilled the twin objective of developing the area as well as providing employment.
Pathania further promised them that he shall very soon get the block headquarters of the Rural Development Department, horticulture department, agriculture department, social welfare Department, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Department from Dudu/Basantgarh, (at a motorable distance of about 150 kms from these villages.
He further reiterated the resolve to open up a dispensary in the area thereby putting the hygiene of local people in constant risk.
