No country has right to interfere in internal affairs of India: BJP
6/14/2011 9:17:53 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, June 14: Strongly denouncing the British Parliamentarian George Galloway’s observation that Kashmiris want plebiscite promised to them by Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, the BJP state chief spokesperson & national executive member Jitendra Singh has said that while on the one hand no other country has the right to interfere in the internal affairs of India, such statements from western dignitaries receive encouragement and unwarranted media coverage because of weak-kneed responses from the UPA government and failure of the centre to place its Kashmir policy firmly on record once and for all.

Jitendra Singh said that a greater part of present Kashmir imbroglio was the result of Nehru’s misguided ventures infamously referred to as Nehruvian blunders on Kashmir. But, the contradiction emanating from Nehruvian mistakes have since been sought to be put to rest with the passage of unanimous all party resolution of parliament in 1994 stating that Jammu and Kashmir is integral part of India and pledging to vacate the portion of the state under Pakistan occupation (PoK).
Reacting sharply to Galloway’s statement comparing the so-called plight of Kashmiris with that of Palestinians, Singh said this observation is devoid of logic or fact particularly when the state of Jammu and Kashmir enjoys all democratic rights as enjoyed by other states of Indian union and there have been regular elections held from time to time. He called upon the UPA government to take a strong note of the British MP’s statement and take up the issue through diplomatic channels.
BJP is the only political party which has the most consistent policy on Kashmir, reminded Jitendra Singh and added that we would strongly oppose any such move or statement that tends to weaken the state’s relationship with rest of India.
