| President Cup: Chairman XI comfortable against President XI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 14: Reducing President XI to 78 for five after making 220 runs in their first innings, Chairman XI looked comfortable at the end of day-one play of the two-day match of the President Cup, organised by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. Earlier, President XI won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, Chairman XI made 220 runs losing all their wickets in 59 overs. Except for Rohit Bhat, who made 67 runs including ten boundaries and a six, no other batsman could impress. Moshin Najar and Manish Dogra contributed 35 and 34 runs respectively while Aditya Pratap (28) and Ram Dayal (14) were other main scorers. From President XI, Vishvajeet Singh bowled brilliant spell taking away four wickets for 58 runs in 14 overs while Vijay Dogra and Paras Sharma shared three each. In reply, President XI could not face the bowling wrath of Chairman XI and lost wickets cheaply. However, Radhyesham showed some resistance contributing 23 runs. When stumps were drawn, President XI were struggling at 78 for five in 30 overs. Amrit Pal Singh was at the crease with unbeaten nine. Sidharth Magotra (15), Paras Sharma (14) and Hardeep Singh (13) were other contributors to the small total. From Chairman XI, Deepak Manhas claimed two wickets while Ram Dayal, Dilawar Singh and Raman Dutta shared apiece each.
