| Dar inaugurates Irshad Memoral Cricket tourney | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, JUNE 15: Minister of State for R &B and Agriculture Javeed Ahmad Dar today inaugurated First Irshad Memoral Cricket tournament at Jehlum Sports Stadium Baramullah. The tournament was orginaized by Kashmir 24 TV channel in collaboration with State Sports Council, Youth Services Sports Barramullah and Nehru Youa kendera Barramullah. As many as 40 teams drawn from different districts are participating in the tournament.
Prominent citizens, Bapar Mandal and a large number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government has taken several steps for boosting sports activities in the State. He said tournaments open up opportunities for grooming and learning new techniques to the participants.
To make the tournament a grand success, the Minister stressed on close coordination between various organizations. He appreciated the endeavour of the organizers, especially the Kashmir 24 TV Channel for holding such tournament in the district. He hoped that the event would prove a new milestone in the history of Baramullah district, adding that hidden talent will come out and players of the State would be able to make their place in the national events.
Dar instructed the concerned to come up with the proposal for the development of the playing field so that the funds would be arranged for the purpose.
District Development Commissioner, Barramullah Bashir Ahmad Bhat and District President, Indian National Congress Mir Mushtaq also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the Minister visited Chiujhama and inspected the proposed land which was acquired for the establishment of Sub-Divisional Police office, Rafiaabad.
