Government’s not serious about Gujjars Problems : JKGUF | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Gujjars united front (JKGUF) has strongly criticized the state as well as central government for their indifferent attitude towards the genuine problems of the Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir.
In an emergent meeting of its an Executive Members under the chairmanship of president of the Front Anwar Chowdhary, the front alleged that none of the governments so far has paid any attention towards the problems of Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir.
It was lamented in the meeting that from the date of grant of schedule Tribe status to the community, almost 20 years are on, but neither the state nor central government has taken any steps to implement this status vis-à-vis Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir .
Anwar Chowdhary has alleged that all the constitutional rights guaranteed under the constitution of India as well as that of the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir have been denied to the community by not granting political reservation, permanently settling the people of this community and also by not implementing the status for providing due share in services to the unemployed educated youths of the community.
It was also alleged by the speakers in the meeting that hundreds of c
olonies for the settlement of other people have been established, even non-State subjects have been permanently settled in the state. But no scheme for the settlement of named Gujjars who have been living in the state for centuries together has been initiated.
It was also resolved in the meeting that the J&K Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir and as a first step to such a campaign, the front shall start a signature campaign in the whole of state in favour of political reservation for schedule tribe and permanent settlements of nomad Gujjars in the state.
At least 50 lacs signatures shall be submitted to the Prime Minister for granting political reservation to schedule Tribes of the state and copies of same shall also be sent to President of India , Pritabha Patil ,UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi opposition leader Sushma Swaraj and others.
