| All the life forms have varying abilities to think and create. Man is the homespun with highest degree of abilities in mental terms. That is why, he was able to tame the wildest of animals even though they were much powerful than him. Thus, man is the only hope of the Almighty so far as management of the complicated affairs (of this part of the universe) is concerned.
Given the gravity of his Herculean responsibilities, man cannot afford to lead a life of luxury of Carelessness. If he were to choose only a comfortable path during his journey in time, he would not be able to protect his world from a disaster of extreme propositions. If he were to become complacent of his achievements, he would be overpowered by the vagaries of time and nature.
There are three categories of humans, if we have Karma as the criterion for a dignified classification. The first category is of those humans who are achievers. They work with dedication and their finesse is manifested in their products, technologies, actions and thoughts. The second category is of those humans who believe in the enjoying their lives and use the resources of the world for over indulgence. They may or may not be rich but they certainly are careless, not been to utilize time and fickle minded. The third category is of those humans who are either physically or mentally handicapped. But they are not able to achieve something (or even work properly) due to certain physical or neurological disorders.
The mankind has pinned its hopes on the men and women of the first category. They are leading useful lives and are contributing towards the cause of human development. They are scientists, managers, engineers, architects, doctors, social reformers, environmentalists, authors, editors and thinkers. Achievers do not treat life as a game of pebbles. They work relentlessly towards some predefined goals. They give new ideas, concepts and products to the world, which made life comfortable and even luxurious for their posterity.
The second category is an enigma for social scientists. People belonging to this category are rich as well as poor. They waste their time in enjoying life. They do not define goals for justifying their lives. Instead, then try to find new ways for enjoyment, entertainment and thrilling experiences. Such people could be drug addicts, criminals, smugglers, mafia dones, persons from lower income brackets of the society, young boys and girls, school dropouts, government clerks, etc. They certainly work but do not for the sake of their families, society or the mankind. They live for themselves and try to work at lowest efficiencies. They are the burden on the human society. In fact, they are the living dead. They may lead long lives but their actions and the consequences of those sections denote their early death. Unfortunately, the number of such living dead is increasing in every society and nation. Lack of education and training, involvement in drug trafficking, religious compulsions, societal norms and poverty lead to development of negative tendencies in the minds of these individuals. They defy the norms of the family or society. They are not brain-dead but decay gradually in mental terms. And those who have links with criminals, drug traffickers and smugglers, meet their physical ends pretty soon. Drug rehabilitation centers, psychologists, women's rehabilitation centers, NGOs, social workers, etc. are trying to change their phyche the world over. But the current trends of materialism are creating additional numbers of such overindulgent maniacs. For them, time is not precious but their favourite pastime, sport, drug or liquor is too dear to be forsaken.
The third category is of mentally and physically handicapped people. They could have used their time and energies to create fruitful technologies, products or thoughts. They are either mentally sick or physically handicapped. Efforts are on to bring them to the borderline of normally but all of them are not so lucky.
For the individual of the first category, our message is –Bravo! Keep it up. For the individuals of the second category, our message ought to be – do not lead a useless life and utilize your time fort the benefit of the mankind. For individual of the third category, our message should be – our sympathies and a prayer that the Almighty may help you utilize your time effectively.
