Omar “saddens” Vishal's family on tweeter | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 15: Tech-savvy chief minister Omar Abdullah is known for his tweets. He often tweets to share his feelings. Today, however, he saddened Vishal's family who was expecting from him a piece on the 3rd-degree police torture that has left him paralysed in both arms. Vishal is the sole bread earner in his family and has not worked for two months now. Of his two younger brothers, one is forced by the circumstances to stop going to school and sit in their shop to make their livelihood. The family is passing through a great mental agony. The police scare also haunts them day in, day out.Though Omar has already ordered an inquiry into the incident, the family expected him to announce an immediate action against the erring cops, pending inquiry probe against them. The family also doubted that the guilty cops could influence the inquiry in their favour. In today's tweet, he did not lambaste Janipura police for inhuman torture of Vishal. He, however, expressed worries over the future of his son's college education in view of the high merit cut-off list of Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi. Responding to the announcement of cut- off list of prestigious SRCC, which was 100 per cent, Omar tweeted on thepopular micro blogging site, "I'm terrified for my sons because in 5 years when Zamir moves to college the cut-offs will be even more insane." He, however, said he was glad he finished college studies twenty years ago. Presently camping in New Delhi in connection with a meeting with the members of the planning commission. Omar tweeted, "Looking at the scary cut-off percentages in Delhi colleges, I'm just glad Ifinished college 20 years ago. 100 per cent is the cut-off for SRCC." Complimenting the students for securing such high percentage, Omar wrote on the micro blogging website, "If 100 per cent is the minimum required to be considered for admission, are there kids coming with more than 100 out of 100? I am confused." He also admitted the fact that with these kinds of cut-off marks he'd have been doing a correspondence course because he wouldn't have even got a "pass course" admission. During the day, Omar also commented on the rush of tourists to thevalley and after compairing the numbers said, "This year the total number of arrivals is falling short by one lakh." Omar also shared his sentiments over the successful completion of panchayat elections in the state and said, "Very heartening to hear the praise and appreciation for the people of J&K from the planning Commission for their participation in panchayat polls." |
