At least two persons, including a housewife, committed suicide at two different places in Jammu, since last 24 hours.
Police said that a woman, Pritama Sharma wife of Parveen Sharma, jumped in river Chinab at Akhnoor, near here, late last evening. Though the body was still to be traced, police said she was believed to be dead.
It was reliably learnt that police has arrested father-in-law of he deceased in the case. The woman had reportedly a verbal scuffle with her father-in-law, Jagdish Dutt Sharma of Takwal village, following which she took the extreme step of ending her life, a police officer told News Agency of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a youth committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence at Nai Basti, Pargwal in Akhnoor tehsils. Identified as Sonu son of Sardari Lal, the youth was rushed by his family members to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police said it has registered a case and was investigating the matter.
