Govt to broad base KP rehabilitation programme: Bhalla

SRINAGAR, JUNE 16:

Rs.60 crore prestigious rehabilitation project for Kashmiri Pandit
migrants is apace at various townships of Kashmir Valley where out of
total 713 residential quarters as many as 388 have been completed to
accommodate migrants who returned to their birth place.
This was stated by the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation
Raman Bhalla while inspecting the construction work at transit
accommodation at Vessu in Kulgam.
The Minister went round 250 quarter inhabitations spread over 100
kanals of land and interacted with camp inmates, who demanded
augmentation of water supply and other civic amenities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government will widen
the rehabilitation programme for migrants to make it more
comprehensive so that businessmen and other classes could also be
accommodated. He stressed upon them to maintain peace and harmony,
adding entire civil society of Kashmir as well as government is at
their back.
Earlier, the Minister directed concerned Deputy Commissioner to
identify more government land for further expansion of residential
quarters. He also directed Executive Engineer PHE to prepare DPR and
send it to Chief engineer for funding at an earliest. He also directed
for increase of tanker service from 3 to 6 to provide potable drinking
water to the inhabitants.
Referring to the other problems relating to employees who joined in
Kulgam district under Prime Minister’s Employment Package, the
Minister directed Chief Education Officer Kulgam to immediately
release the salaries of the teachers in his district.
The Minister also met a deputation from Qazigund and Wanpoh areas
headed by MLC Mr. M. Amin Bhat who projected their demand regarding
compensation of land, acquired for widening of National high way.
The Minister heard them patiently and assured them that the matter
would be looked into sympathetically. He directed Deputy Commissioners
Anantnag to personally look into the matter.
