Traditional prayers mark concluding Mela Sudhmahadev | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 16: The three days long Historical Sudhmahadev Mela of Jammu Province, which started on June 14, near Chenani in Udhampur district, concluded with traditional prayers and fanfare.
Nearly 70000 people drawn from all parts of Jammu region and the neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh attended the Mela. This folk Mela of Jammu Province is held on the Jeshta Poornima.
The Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust looks after the management affairs of the ancient Sudhmahadev Shrine and the other shrines of Shri Gouri-kund, Maantalaai in Sudhmahadev vicinity. The Trust makes arrangements of accommodation, besides, boarding and lodging and Langers for the devotees. A team of highly Sanskrit learned Pandits of the Trust perform Pooja and help devotees in performing of rituals.
Special prayer was held for the long life of the Chairman Trustee, Maharaja Dr. Karan Singh and prosperity of the Royal family and people of the State The President of the Trust Thakur Divakar Singh accompanied by the senior officers of the Trust personally monitored these arrangements. He expressed heartiest gratitude towards Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, . District Headquarter Assistant, Superintending Engineers PDD, PHE, and Police Department , Tehsildar, Mela Officer, and State Information Department and volunteer organizations for making elaborate arrangements of drinking water, electricity , police Bandobast, security and traffic during the Mela days,
