NABARD organized one day workshop | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, June 16: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) an apex level financial institution organized one day workshop on Financial Inclusion.
The workshop was organized with the objective of discussing Financial Inclusion with partner agencies and to strategize for achieving 100% Financial Inclusion target by providing banking facility to rural population of 42 villages.
The main participants in the meeting were Jitendra K Singh, IAS, SDM Billawar, Aman Kalsotra, AGM, NABARD Kathua Sanjay Kumar, and others.
Jitender K Singh while speaking on the occasion indicated that banks, NGOs and state government officials should work in tandem to ensure financial inclusion in the district, especially Billawar Block.
He informed that by September 2011, he wants that atleast 04 villages, one each allocated to different banks be 100 % financially included.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Kumar, explained to the forum the need and benefits of financial inclusion for bankers and customers, State Government as well as NGOs.
Various facets and activities which will ensure 100 % financial inclusion in the District were also discussed threadbare.
Last year, NABARD has sanctioned project worth Rs. 17.00 lakh to J & K Grameen Bank and Ellaquai Dehati Bank for the above projects.
Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Kathua explained the role of bankers in Financial Inclusion and importance of reaching the last mile client.
