6/17/2011 9:35:26 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, June 17
Atleast 10 singers have been selected by the army in Naoshera border
town who showed their performance in the singing during “Naoshera
Idol” contest going on in the area.
The contest which has been organized by the army is receving
tremendous response from the local singers.
Naoshera which is in proximity to the Line of Control is remote and
devoid of basic amenities. In such areas very few facilities are there
to nurture the talent of younger generation. Indian Army is organizing
a singing talent hunt to promote the hidden talent of local youth in
the region.
The event has been named ‘Naoshera Idol’. In the last one month
auditions were carried out in various villages of Naoshera Tehsil and
10 singers were selected by an expert panel of judges out of over 100
contestants. These 10 budding singers will perform in the grand finale
on 19 June at the Butalia Auditorium in which the ‘Naoshera Idol’ will
be selected. Many eminent political, civil and Army personalities of
the area are likely to attend the event.
