Kamaljot excels in Aghar Jitto Kesari dangal

JAMMU, June 17: Kamaljot (Billa) of Khanna in Punjab won the 48th Annual Aghar Jitto Kesari Dangal outplaying another Punjab wrestler Yodha of Attari in Amritsar in the main bout that took place at village Aghar Jitto in tehsil and district Reasi.
The Dangal was organized by Baba Jitto Temple Development Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Winner of the main bout, Kamaljot was a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with traditional silver gurj (Gadda) and patta while runner-up, Yodha got Rs 3,000.
The second main bout bagged by Billa of Mohali in Chandigarh beating wrestler Chart of Amritsar. In the third bout, Sher Singh of Khanna beat Prahald Singh of Kalakote while Sukha of Khanna defeated Bhawana of Malikpur in the fourth bout. Surinder of Khanna clinched the fifth bout outplaying Ravinder of Mahore.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Pondurang K. Pole was the chief guest who gave away cash prize among the winners and losers of the one day-long dangal. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and member State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Chief Education Officer Reasi, Kushal Kumar Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Katra Ratten Singh Darara, and SDPO Katra, Pushker Nath Tikoo were guests of honour.
Station House Officer (SHO), Katra, Vinod Kumar Kundal, Headmaster Gopal Krishan, Sarpanch Krishan Singh (Papu) and Major DJ Singh and Om Parkash Padha were among others present.
Member of organizing committee and those technical officials who extended their support in the successful conduct of the event were Mohan Lal Pujari (president) Headmaster Gopal Krishan, Om Parkash Malkotra, Romesh Kumar Sanmotra, Sarpanch Krishan Singh, Sunil Kholi, Krishan Chand Verma, Mangat Ram, Shanker Singh, Bansi Lal, Bodh Raj, Om Parkash, Bishan Dass, Ramesh Kumar, Ram, Pt. Pameshwar, Mohinder Kumar, Capt. (Retd.) Lehar Singh and Mohd. Fareed.
Meanwhile, according to the organizers, wrestling lover, Bunty Sharma son of Girdhari Lal Sharma of Delhi contributed Rs. 11,000 as financial assistance.

Other Results: Jagdev Singh beat Gurdev Singh, Kartar Singh beat Pinda, Satyanam beat Pritam Singh, Bagga beat Mohinder Singh, Nank Chand beat Balwan Singh, Raman Kumar beat Pritam Singh, Jameet Singh beat Liakat Ali, Mohan Lal beat Billu, Kuldeep Singh beat Parsotam Singh and Chain Singh beat Bal Krishan. Bout between Daleep Singh and Pinda ended in a draw.
