Dy CM inspects Dal conservation works | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 17- Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today conducted an extensive tour of Dal Lake to review works taken to conserve the world famous Dal Lake. The Deputy Chief Minister was informed that 2 weed harvesters and 2 transport barge machines costing Rs 6.50 crore have been pressed into service in Dal Lake for deweeding which is yielding desirable results. He was apprised that 18,943 cubic meter area was deweeded manually and 7,780 cubic meters mechanically from April to June this year. Tara Chand stressed on the concerned authorities to speed up conservation operations for which he suggested engagement of Dal dwellers also. The Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to restore the pristine glory of Dal. He expressed satisfaction over the tourist flow who are visiting Dal and adjoining Mughal Gardens in large numbers. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Rural Development Mr. Ali Muhammad Sagar visited Brari Nambal and took stock of the cleansing work. They directed UEED authorities to accelerate the work and complete it as early as possible. They also asked Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for installation of 6 street lights at Brari Nambal. Vice Chairman, Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Irfan Yaseen Shah accompanied the ministers.
