Disaster management plan discussed | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jun 17: At the request of Governor N.N.Vohra, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had kindly arranged for Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad, Member, NDMA, to visit Kashmir for reviewing disaster related issues with regard to forthcoming Amarnathji Yatra. Dr. Ahmad held an hour long discussion with the Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, here this evening. During their meeting, the Governor and Dr. Ahmad discussed modalities for putting in place an effective Disaster Management Plan for the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra. In this context, the NDMA shall be conducting table-top Mock Drill exercises simultaneously at the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps of the Amarnathji Yatra on 25th June, 2011. In this connection, two NDMA teams from Delhi shall overview the conduct of these Mock Drills with the objective of evolving an optimum level of preparedness and response during a worst case scenario, evacuation arrangements, medical preparedness and arrangements in regard to hygiene and sanitation at the various Base and en-route Camps.
