Kamal wins snooker, Abhishek billiards titles | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 18: Seasoned cueist, Kamal Rohmetra clinched the senior snooker title outplaying Ishuk Choudhary 3-2 in the well contested final of the 21st State Billiards and Snooker Championships which concluded at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today. The best of seven title contest witnessed ups and downs throughout with no cueist had clear edge over other. Levelled at 3-3, Kamal played some matured shots to pot at the crucial stages to clinch the decider 74-58. The score: 67-46, 23-61, 17-61, 51-39, 62-49, 26-60, 74-58. Later, the junior billiards title went to Abhishek Goswami, who beat Ishan Choudhary 3-2. The score: 50-45, 50-11, 05-50, 31-50, 50-12. Earlier, the senior billiards title was bagged by Vishal Abrol beating Sohail Khalid and the junior snooker final was won by Ishan Choudhary outplaying Nitin Sharma yesterday. In the valedictory function of the state championships, Minister for Sports, R S Chib was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Poor show by Kashmir cueists
It was for the first time that cueists from Kashmir failed to impress at the state championship. In all the four events of this month-long championship, Jammu cueists showed their complete domination. The outcome of the event speaks lauder about the game of billiards and snooker remained Jammu centric.
