| 3.20 lakh devotees pay obeisance at Shiv Khori Shrine | | | REASI Nov 23 Over 3.20 lakh devotees from within and outside the state paid obeisance at the historic Shiv Khori Shrine cave in block Pouni of tehsil Reasi in Udhampur district upto 22nd November 2006 during the current financial year. While going through the previous records of the visiting pilgrims during the last year, 3,06,679 pilgrims visited and paid obeisance at the Shiv Khori Shrine but the number of visiting devotees has increased this year and so far 3,20,331 devotees had already paid obeisance and it is expected that more devotees would touch over 3.50 lakh mark upto ending December 2006. This has become possible by the setting up of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Development Board by the state government duly headed by the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur as its chairman and SDM Reasi as its Member Secretary who are making all out efforts to provide more and more facilities to the visiting yatris. A number of developmental projects have been taken in hand by the Shrine board to facilitate the devotees with comfortable stay and other important necessities. An amount of Rs.1.66 crore would be spent on the construction of three storied waiting hall building with office, clock room, waiting hall with provision of store facilities for which tender have already been called up. The works on toilet block, bridge, tuck shop, two number rain shelter sheds, finishi ng and protection of the new cave, plantation of ornamental plants and fencing have already been taken in hand. Tourism Department is also endeavoring a lot to develop this place as a good tourist destination for the visiting pilgrims with all infrastructural facilities.
