‘Panchayats will help in good governance’ : Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JUNE 18- Government has been concentrating on creation of employment opportunities for youth, besides kick-starting multi-pronged development activities to upgrade infrastructure in the important sectors of health, education, water supply, power and communication stated Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma while Addressing newly elected sarpanchs and panches at Gandharwan, Akhnoor, He said that both state and central governments are committed to transfer maximum powers to the elected sarpanchs and panches to enable them to take decision at local level regarding the development of their respective areas and added that many projects and schemes have already been initiated in these sectors and many more are in the pipeline. Terming the involvement of the people imperative for need based and all round development of rural areas, the Minister hoped that the state will soon have a full fledged panchayat system that will facilitate devolution of the financial and decision making powers to these grass root level institutions. He said that government was fully aware of people’s problem living in hilly and remote areas and it was making all efforts to mitigate the same. Listing the achievements registered in various sectors, he said this has become possible due to the liberal funding from the central government headed by Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh. Asking the parents to send their wards to schools, Sham, said the education is the fundamental right of every child and imparting education should be deemed as essential as their physical nourishment. He stressed upon the teacher faculty to imbibe moral values among the students so that they could become good citizen and work for the growth and development of the society.
