EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 19: Reacting over the remarks of state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that KP’s are divided over the passage of temple & shrine bill in the assembly, Kashmiri Pandit Conference chief Kundan Kashmiri in a statement has said that KP community on the whole is united over passage of bill, however an individual or group or a committee having their individual reasons or interests cannot become hurdle to get the KP religious property protected under law.
It is also duty of government to make them understand the merits of the bill in order to protect our religious property at par with religious property of Muslims and Sikhs of the state to avoid the discrimination, he said.
There was not a single bill so far passed in the state assembly having cent-percent consensus of the people and complete support of legislators in the house and also there was divided opinion of concerned communities over the passage of Wakaf and Gurduwara bills in the assembly previously.
He said that temple & shrines are symbol of our existence in valley, which are extremely in deplorable condition.
Broken electrical polls causing disruption in power supply to Jawala Ji Shrine, encroachment of spring located at its foot hills and poor maintenance of Bala Devi & other shrines & temples have caused great concern to KP community.
He appealed PDP, Congress and BJP organizations of the state to extend their support to their cause
KPC chief while further highlighting the difficulties and problems faced by Jagti migrants as well as by the recently appointed KP employees in the valley, stated that basic amenities like drinking water, health care, basic education, permanent police post, fire brigade, and most importantly public transport should have been the first priority before shifting the KP families to the said Jagti camp.
He further said that less construction of shops at Jagti camp has caused lot of problem to those KP migrants shopkeepers who were not allotted these shops at Jagti after their shifting.
He appealed the Govt. to provide the above said amenities to the victim migrants who have suffered with second migration by shifting them from various camps to the said Jagti accommodations.
Kundan Kashmiri further stated that Govt. is not sensitive to the basic needs of recently employed migrant youths in the valley and it is shocking to see that they have not been paid salaries since their joining the service from the last six months and is very difficult for them to sustain without money.
He further said that accommodation provided to these KP employees in the valley is very poor, joint kitchen & washroom, shortage of power & drinking water further complicated their problems.
Kupwara district migrant employees are badly suffering without any accommodation.
Kundan Kashmiri appealed the Govt to fulfill the demands at the earliest.
