Bandeep’s 167 propels Working President XI to 360 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 19: Magnificent innings of 167 runs played by young Bandeep Singh today powered Working President XI to a big 360 runs total against President XI in the ongoing President Cup, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Working President XI made a confident start with Bandeep hitting the opponent bowlers hard. Bandeep not only scored highest individual total of the tournament but also guided the team to set maximum target of 361 runs in 72 overs. Bandeep faced 172 deliveries to make 167 runs, surpassing the highest total of Secretary XI skipper, Dhruv Mahajan, who made 122 runs yesterday. This turbaned right-handed batsman entertained the spectators, mostly the senior and veteran cricketers, with his huge sixes on the long-on. He hit seven sixes and 15 boundaries in his powerful innings of 167 runs. Gurdeep Singh also played well contributing 78-ball 64 runs studded with 13 hits to the fence. Manik Gupta and Anil Kohli added 32 and 27 runs respectively. Vijay Dogra was most successful bowler from President XI, who clinched five wickets for 111 runs in 24.2 overs. Mayant Goutam bagged two and Vishwajeet Singh and Hardeep Singh shared apiece each. Now, first class cricketer, Hardeep Singh led President XI will have a daunting task while start chasing the Working President XI total tomorrow.
