30th Junior Boys & 13th Girls wrestling tourney concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JUNE 19- The 30th Junior Boys Free Style, Greco Roman Style and 13th Girls National Wrestling championship concluded here today at Gymnasium Hall opposite Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu . Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Mr R S Chib was the chief guest at the valedictory function Member Parliament of Uttar Pardesh Mr. Brig Bushan was the special invitee on the occasion. Junior National Wrestling Championship (male) and 13th Junior National Championship (female) was organizes by Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association. Around 600 wrestlers in the age group of 18 to 20 years and more than 200 officials, coaches, referees, judges and experts, besides wrestlers from 28 states including Army, BSF, Railway and other sports institutions participated in the championship. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that state of Jammu and Kashmir has no dearth of talent and posses the potential and skill to participate in national and international level events. He asked the youth to come forward and refine their sports skills and strive to achieve new heights in the field of their interest. Listing various measures taken by the government to promote sports in Jammu and Kashmir, he said besides creating massive infrastructure, including sports complexes and stadiums at tehsil Levels, the state is also hosting national level events to encourage local youth. He said holding of national events in the state has set in motion new phase of sports activities in the state which are attracting large number of youth towards the sports. Mr. Chib appreciated the role of WFI and J&K Wrestling Association for hosting such national events in the state to boost the moral of young talented youths of the state to touch the high gales in the Wrestling event for the country. Among others, present on the occasion included, Director Youth Services and Sports, Jaipal Singh, President WFI and General Secretary J&K Wrestling Association Mr. Dushyant Sharma Joint Secy J&K Sports Council Sidarth Sharma, and other members of J&K Sports Council besides large number of participating players.
