GMC doctors saved a precious life | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 19: Kaka Ram 62 Year old patient who presented with history of sync opal attacks with complete heart block underwent Temporary Pacing in Cardiology department of GMC Hospital Jammu thereby saving his life. Patient was prepared for permanent pacing and further tests conducted on the patient revealed a very rare condition of Left sided superior vena cave which is found in only 0.3 % of population and a very difficult preconditioning for permanent pace makes implantation. However taking on this challenge a team of doctors and technical staff led by Dr Mohan Lal and Dr Sushil Kumar Sharma interventional cardiologist of GMC Jammu successfully accomplished this arduous job of pacing through left superior vena cave there by saving patient of a possible difficult surgery. Patient is now recouping well in the coronary care unit at GMC Jammu. Dr Sushil further said that such difficult cases of pace maker implantation are done at very few cardiology centers across the country and Cardiology department of GMC Jammu has achieved this feat for undertaking these types of procedures for patients of this state.
