JAMMU, June 19:A newly elected sarpanch along with his two sons have allegedly beaten up a woman and Power Development Department employee last night in Mendhar’s village,.
Irked with the unscheduled power cuts, the police official said, the newly elected sarpanch identified as Khadam Hussain accompanied by his two sons identified as Tahir Iqbal and Ghulam Rubani allegedly thrashed PDD employees when they went to the receiving grid station of Mendhar.
The police official said, when the trio entered the PDD office last night and gave severe thrashing to the Mohammed Farid Khan son of Majid Khan, who was on duty in the receiving station.
Amid the melee, he said, a woman identified Sakina Bi wife of Munir Hussain, who was watching the incident from her residence from a short distance rushed for his rescue.
Inside, the police official said, the trio also caught hold of the woman and beat up her ruthlessly, leaving her critically wounded and escaped from there.
