| Supreme Court CJ visits high court museum | | | SRINAGAR, JULY 30 – Chief Justice of India Mr. Justice Y. K. Sabharwal visited state high court museum here today. Rare photographs of memorable events, top legal luminaries of the country who had appeared in the state High Court in various cases, judicial and revenue stamps of 19th and early 20th century, letters and manuscripts have been displayed in the museum. Other documents displayed included statement of witness oath in Sanskrit and a photograph of the first bench of the high court of 1928. Judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mr. Justice B. A. Khan, Chief Justices and Judges of various High Courts of the country, judicial officers and lawyers were accompanying the Chief Justices of India. Appreciating the efforts for setting up the museum depicting ancient manuscripts and historical documents, the Chief Justice of India said that these are a valuable treasure for judiciary as well as future generations. Mr. Justice Sabharwal evinced keen interest in the ancient photographs and manuscripts and saw more than 125 years’ old record of the judiciary that depicts how it worked and flourished in the state and provided justice to the people. The display of photographs and rare documents at the museum has been jointly organized by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and the Department of Archaeology and Museums. Director Archaeology and Museums Mr. K. A. Qadiri was also present. |
