| Successful panchayat elections - a milestone: Rana | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 19:
Devender Singh Rana Political Advisor to the Chief Minister said the successful conduct of Panchayat elections in the state is a tribute to the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and is a milestone in the democratic history of the state which is a big leap towards transparency and accountability.
Addressing the elected Sarpanches of Nagrota constituency at a function organized here today to felicitate them, Rana urged them to rise above all political, social and religious considerations and work for the welfare of the people who have elected them. The Political Advisor said a strong Panchayati Raj System will ensure a better delivery system at the grass root level and shall ensure a stable, accountable and a transparent system. He said the state is passing through an era of unprecedented development and growth and to the responsibility of all to facilitate the process for the welfare of the state and its people.
The gathering was also addressed by Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President J&K National Conference, Jammu Province who urged the elected Sarpanches to support the right of the common man and work for his welfare in order to strengthen the state government. The prominent National Conference leaders who also participated in the felicitation function were Haji Mohammad Hussain Ex MLC, Ch. Arshad Provincial Secretary J&K National Conference, Jammu province, Som Nath Khajuria and Kuldip Singh Jamwal.
