MLA distributes over Rs.4.67 lakh under CDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPROT RAMNAGAR, June 19: Farmers’ awareness and cheques distribution programme was organised by the Department of Sericulture Udhampur at Ramnagar today. MLA, Ramnagar, Harsh Dev Singh who was the chief guest on the occasion distributed cheques worth Rs. 4.67 lacs among 113 beneficiaries under the centrally sponsored Catalytic Development Programme (CDP). The MLA handed over cheques amounting to Rs 10,000 each among 19 beneficiaries as a third instalment for the construction of separate cocoon rearing shed, while 32 cheques amounting to Rs. 4,443 each among the beneficiaries of catalytic development programme as a first instalment. Besides Rs. 2250 each was handed over among the 62 farmers for the plantation of mulberry plants on their own land. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA asked the officer and field functionaries of Sericulture Department to conduct frequent touring of their respective areas to check the prescribed utilization of the amount which was distributed among the farmers of the area. The MLA appreciated the efforts of the department for holding such awareness camps. He further asked them to hold such more awareness camps especially in far flung areas so that the people would be benefited by various schemes initiated by the central and state government to raise their socio economic status. He also urged the people of the area to come forward to avail the benefits of various schemes especially meant for their socio economic transformation. The Deputy Director, Sericulture, Udhampur, Amanullah Sheikh explained in detail, the latest now how about silkworm rearing and mulberry plantation. The details of the schemes being implemented by the department were also discussed with the farmers.
