JAMMU, June 19: A youth from Bhaderwah town, who was doing his MBA course from IITM, Mohali, fell into a canal at Ropar in Punjab last week, but his body was still untraced.
Vikas Raina (23), son of Rajinder Prakash Raina of Kursai, Bhaderwah, was on way from Jammu to Mohali on June 13 last when his motorcycle skidded off the road near Arsoon police post, Ropar, and fell into the roadside canal.
While his friend, who was sitting on the pillion side, swam to safety, Vikas drowned.
Vikas's relatives told Early Times that when they brought the matter to the notice of Bhaderwah MLA Mohammad Sharief Niaz, he spoke to Punjab chief minister and requested him to make special efforts to trace out the body.
On his request, the Punjab government sent trained divers to the spot where the incident had occured, but they could not search out the body.
Efforts were still on to find out the body, they said.
