EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 20: A man, who cheated people in the name of shining old utensils and gold ornaments, was today apprehended by people at Tarore in Bari Brahmana.
He was identified as Munna, son of Mohinder Sah of Gusai in Ketehar, Bihar.
Police sources said Munna and his accomplice Sunday went to the house of Ashok Gupta at Patli Morh, Bari Brahmana, and told his wife Prem Lata that they worked for a multi-national company and
were promoting its product which could shine old kitchen utensils and make them look like new ones.
The woman then gave them some utensils and they shone them all by keeping them in a solution which they carried with them.
They told the woman that the solution could also bring back the shine of old gold ornamens and asked her to give them her bangles.Sources said when she gave them her bangles, they immersed them in
the solution.
After keeping them in the solution for few minuts, they took them out and asked her to keep them in turmeric powder for about half an hour. However, after they left, she realised that the weight of
her bangles had reduced. When she raised an alarm, some locals ran after the two cheats, but they had already fled the area. The matter was later brought by Prem Lata's family to the notice of
police.
Sources said Munna was today spotted at Tarore bus stand by some locals who caught hold of him and gave him a severe beating. They later handed him over to police.Sources said police were searching for his associate. Though some of his hideouts were raided by police, he could not be apprehended,
the sources added.
