| PDD employee held for graft | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
jammu, June 20: Sleuths of State Vigilance Organization (SVO) on Monday caught red handed an incharge foreman of the Power Development Department from M&RE Janipur, while accepting illegal gratification from a person.
Sources said that Pawan Kumar son of late Durga Dass of 654 Janipur Colony lodged a written complaint with the SVO, Jammu that he was constructing a residential house in plot number 378 in Janipur. A service line (the main electric wire) was passing through his plot posing a threat to the lives of the family members following which, the complainant Pawan moved a application for the shift of the wire in the office of AEE-PDD M&RE (Janipur)," the sources informed.
They said that the PDD officer marked the application to incharge Forman Gulzari Lal who visited the site and demanded Rs 10, 000 for shifting the electric wire from their plot which forced him to complaint with the SVO, Jammu.
On receiving the complaint, sources said, the SVO sleuths laid a trap and caught Gulzari Lal (Incharge Foreman, M&RE Janipur) son of Brij Nath of Janipur red handed while demanding and accepting phenolphthalein dusted amount of Rs 8000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witness.
The tainted bribe money was recovered and the accused was arrested by the vigilance team. A case FIR Number 8 of 2011 under section 5(2) P.C.Act r/w section 161 of RPC at police station Vigilance Organisation, Jammu was registered. |
